Host an event at the first Faith-focused Pavilion during COP28

The 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) will convene November 30 – December 12 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The focus of the summit is “Protecting global food systems.” In advance of this global gathering, our partners at UNEP Faith for Earth are hosting a series of consultations with religious leaders and will also host, for the first time, a Pavilion during COP28 dedicated solely to faith and interfaith engagement. This unique space will serve as a platform for dialogue between religions and cultures and will highlight the crucial role of religious perspectives and values in addressing the climate crisis. The Faith Pavilion

Faith Based Organisations and religious leaders are an important presence at the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of Parties demonstrating that religious and spiritual communities are essential to the fight against climate change and to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the goals of the Paris Agreement.

UNEP, through the Faith for Earth Coalition has a robust Pre-COP consultation process that has been underway since January 2023. Click here for a summary of the engagement.

The first-of-its-kind Pavilion for faith and interfaith actors

At this year’s COP28, UNEP and the Muslim Council of Elders have formed strategic multi-partnerships with Faith Based Organisations and civil society partners to host a first-of-its-kind Pavilion.

This visible presence at COP will provide a unique opportunity for interfaith dialogue, capacity building, information sharing, and engagement with key stakeholders including negotiators and political leaders.
