The Faith Pavilion
Faith Based Organisations and religious leaders are an important presence at the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of Parties demonstrating that religious and spiritual communities are essential to the fight against climate change and to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the goals of the Paris Agreement.
UNEP, through the Faith for Earth Coalition has a robust Pre-COP consultation process that has been underway since January 2023. Click here for a summary of the engagement.
The first-of-its-kind Pavilion for faith and interfaith actors
At this year’s COP28, UNEP and the Muslim Council of Elders have formed strategic multi-partnerships with Faith Based Organisations and civil society partners to host a first-of-its-kind Pavilion.
This visible presence at COP will provide a unique opportunity for interfaith dialogue, capacity building, information sharing, and engagement with key stakeholders including negotiators and political leaders.
NOW ACCEPTING EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST: To host an event at the Pavilion, we are asking our partners that will be present at COP28 to submit an expression of interest by Thursday, 17 July 2023. Send us an email at azmaira.alibhai@un.org for further details.
